In designing the Lifestyle Gallery, we reflected on the vibrant energy and sophistication of Kuching’s Golden Triangle, once the hot spot of shopping, offices and entertainment; and how we could contribute to rejuvenate the city centre.

Paying homage to the building’s Art Deco origins, we formed our design response through the lens of Carlo Scarpa. The result a romantic and free-spirited interpretation of ikat weaving, hand-brushed Venetian paint, gold accents, marble palates, velvet fabrics and textured woods of the golden era.

Our scope included demolishing an escalator, upgrading M&E and firefighting services, custom furnishings and lighting.
